STEEL TWO-WAY LOCKNUT

The TWO-WAY locks to the mating part by means of deflected threads in the centre of the nut. Holds at any point on the screw. Saves on length of screw as threads need not protrude from nut to lock securely. Top and bottom are identical; nut is ideal for automation. Economical - one piece

HOW IT WORKS

The centre threads of the Two-Way Locknut have been precision deflected at two 180 ° opposing centre pressure points, thus uniformly ovalizing the centre threads of the nut and deflecting the centre threads of the nut out of their true helix. This locking element spreads over several of the centre threads and engages the mating threads of a bolt or stud with a resilient 180 ° spring lock. Even before the bolt end reaches the top of the nut, the lock is fully engaged. For AUTOMATION . . . The double chamfer (the top and bottom are alike) make the nut always right side up. Ideal for hopper or hand feeding.

Grade A-Finished Hexagon Dimensions -(Standard for most applications) Low carbon steel C1110 or equivalent, Rockwell B80-B90, for use on most applications SAE grade bolts 2 and 5. By common practice Grade A Two-Way Lock-nuts are used in conjunc tion with all sizes of Grade 5 bolts where coarse threads require 120,000 psi and fine threads require 109,000 psi. Note: Special Thick Machine Screw Hexagon Dimension below 1/4".
