As the mandrel head recedes into the rivet body it draws the materials together and forms an expanded head on the blind side. The positive mechanical lock is formed when the rivet body’s internal locking ring seats itself in the mandrel’s groove.

After inserting an UltraGrip rivet with its “easy entry” chamfered head into the prepared hole, the POP Rivetool engages the mandrel pulling it into the rivet body.

The POP Rivetool continues to pull,

breaking the mandrel flush and completing installation. There is no need for grinding or other smoothing operations. Visual inspection verifies that the rivet is fully set and that the mandrel head is locked in place.
